![]() ![]() In May of 1972, the three Balsley brothers - Robert, John, and Steve - purchased an existing wine shop on East 5th Street in downtown Charlotte called Arthur’s Gourmet Shop and was owned by Arthur Pressman, who was hoping to retire. The shop was approximately 1,500 square-feet and the purchase price was $6,000. We will be back to Foxcroft again soon and we are looking forward to once again celebrating more hard work.Serving the Queen City & Abroad Since 1972 To that point, I still gnawed away :-DĪs far as the wines go, the waitress was tremendously helpful in suggesting wines and more so than the typical ambiguous "the red would go well with the beef sliders" (no kidding, realllly?). The only real critique I'd offer is that the olives were not pitted purists might argue that olives taste better with the pits and I am one of those, though gnawing around the pit in public seems a bit questionable. The Brussels Sprouts were dynamically crunchy and had quite a medley of flavors that made them a must have when we go back. The 4 oz charcuterie plate was a good size with everything else we had and it went tremendously well with the truffle fries. These were medium cut fries, but they were cooked perfectly and topped with grated parmesan. That said, the truffle fries were 2nd only to how I remember my first experience with truffle fries at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel. We had a chef's special that night, the mushroom bruschetta with truffle oil, followed by the beef carpaccio and finished off with truffle fries, Brussels Sprouts and the 4oz charcuterie plate.įirst of all, the Food Network and their snobbish judges will scream to high heaven about how truffle oil is used more as a crutch than a creative ingredient they can suck on a dry cucumber cupcake because I personally enjoy it tremendously and the chef is quite generous. ambiance was perfect: Quaint, Busy and loud enough to be somewhat anonymous, but quaint enough to kickback, relax and enjoy a wonderfully connecting conversation. Truly a great find! The wines were great, the apps we chose were tasty and the. because of close proximity and it seemed interesting. My wife and I went out to celebrate several victories from the past 2 months and we chose Foxcroft Wine Co. I recommend getting there early and not stressing out if you have to search for a parking spot: the experience is worth it. The only downside is that they can get crowded after 5:30 pm, especially on the weekends, and the parking lot can fill up. They do offer more substantial mains, but I have not tried those and instead have orrdered small dishes to share. I have enjoyed the cheese plate, which includes locally sourced artisanal cheeses the brussel sprouts, which are well seasoned and not overyl oiled and several of the favorable flatbreads. The last time I visited I was torn between a pinot noir and a rose our server offered information about and a sample of both. consistantly knowledgable and helpful with both wine and food selections. I have eaten here several times, most recently 2 weeks ago and will visit again next week for a friend's happy hour birthday celebration.
